Every Old School RuneScape player knows the feeling-you want to play, you want to make progress, but you don't want to sweat through Slayer tasks, bosses, or high-intensity clicks. Some days you just want to relax, put on a show, vibe out, and still make decent GP OSRS gold.
That's where low-attention, semi-AFK monsters shine. These are the spots you can camp for steady GP without needing perfect clicks or full focus. Over the years, I've cycled through dozens of options, but five monsters consistently remain my go-tos whenever I want reliable money with minimal effort.
In this guide, I'm ranking the top five low-attention monsters I still camp in 2025, from #5 (my least-picked) all the way to #1 (my absolute favorite and borderline addiction).
Let's dive in.
5. Brutal Black Dragons-Catacombs of Kourend
Brutal black dragons kick off the list at #5-not because they aren't good, but because they're the least AFK of the five. You do need to pay mild attention due to their drops and trip length. They drop two black dragonhide at a time, their bones are valuable, and if you're looting both, your inventory fills fast. Expect around 6-8 kills per trip depending on RNG.
Still, they remain an iconic, low-effort money maker with terrific GP/hour for minimal focus.
Best Weapons & Setup
If we're talking max efficiency:
Twisted Bow (BiS)
Kills per hour: 80-90
GP per hour: 1.9M-2.2M
Assumes Rigor and high-end gear
But not everyone has a Tbow-and that's fine. A Dragon Hunter Crossbow is still extremely strong here:
Dragon Hunter Crossbow
Kills per hour: 65-75
GP per hour: 1.6M-1.8M
You can also use:
Dragon crossbow
Toxic blowpipe (but expect supply costs)
Brutal Blacks are consistent, relaxing, and profitable-but the short trip length holds them back from being super AFK.
4. Skeletal Wyverns-Asgarnian Ice Dungeon
Skeletal Wyverns have been an AFK staple for over a decade, and they're still an amazing choice for players who want steady GP without constant clicking. While they aren't quite as profitable as Brutal Blacks, they require noticeably less attention and offer multiple combat style options.
Melee Setup
Using a Dragon Hunter Lance with best-in-slot melee gear, you can expect:
95-105 kills per hour
1.5M-1.7M GP/hour
BUT-if you melee them, you must use an Ancient Wyvern Shield.
Using a Dragonfire Shield? You will get frozen. A lot. Enough to reduce your kills per hour significantly.
Ranged Setup (Better & More AFK)
The more AFK style is ranged with a Dragon Hunter Crossbow, where safe-spotting is very easy:
120-130 kills per hour
1.9M-2.1M GP/hour
You also need fewer supplies, meaning fewer bank trips-perfect for long session AFKing.
Overall, skeletal wyverns remain one of the cleanest balance points between GP/hour, chill gameplay, and consistent drops.
3. Nechryaels-Slayer Tower
Nechryaels (normal-not superior versions) take the #3 spot. They hit the sweet spot between AFK and active: you do have to move around every few seconds due to fast kills, but the money is great and the attention requirement is very low.
Weapon Options
You have two main routes:
Grazi Rapier
Kills per hour: 230-250
GP per hour: 1.2M-1.325M
Good, but not the best.
Emberlight (Best Option)
The Emberlight is effectively BiS here-and it costs nothing to use.
Kills per hour: 270-290
GP per hour: 1.4M-1.5M
Fast kills + low attention + easy banking make Nechs a long-time favorite, especially for players who like consistent loot piles and combat XP at the same time.
2. Gargoyles-Slayer Tower
Gargoyles have been one of OSRS's signature AFK money monsters since release-and they absolutely deserve that legacy.
They're aggressive, hits are light, drops are constant, and the area works perfectly for long AFK stretches. Just pick up your loot, reset aggro every 10 minutes, and keep swinging.
Weapon Options
Granite Hammer (Affordable Option)
Kills per hour: 205-225
GP per hour: 1.0M-1.1M
Cheap, consistent, and great for mid-tier players.
Inquisitor's Mace (BiS)
If you have it, use it-this weapon shreds gargoyles.
Kills per hour: 240-260
GP per hour: 1.22M-1.3M
Gargoyles rarely dip in profitability because their alchables and granite drops maintain strong value. For years they've been the backbone of AFK money making, and they still hold up extremely well.1. Kurasks-Iorwerth Dungeon (Prifddinas)
My #1 AFK Creature of All Time
Kurasks have always been my personal comfort pick, and that hasn't changed at all in 2025. They are incredibly AFK, extremely cheap to kill, and surprisingly good money-especially in the Iorwerth Dungeon, where you also receive crystal shard drops to boost profit per hour even more.
Everything about Kurasks is smooth:
They're aggressive
They hit softly
Their defenses are low
The loot is surprisingly strong
Shards add bonus profit
And you can camp them for hours with a single inventory
It's pure OSRS therapy.
Best Weapon
You only need one item:
Leaf-bladed Battleaxe (best-in-slot and dirt cheap)
Rates
205-220 kills per hour
1.44M-1.55M GP/hour
This makes Kurasks:
More AFK than Brutal Blacks
Cheaper than Skeletal Wyverns
More relaxing than Gargoyles
And more efficient than most AFK options in the entire game
If I had to pick one low-attention money maker to use forever, this is it.
Final Thoughts
These are my personal top five low-attention monsters in OSRS-five spots I still camp today whenever I want passive income without the stress of bosses or high-intensity Slayer. To recap:
Top 5 Low-Attention Money Makers
1.Kurasks-Best overall AFK + great profit
2.Gargoyles-The classic AFK moneymaker
3.Nechryaels-Fast kills, great XP, solid GP
4.Skeletal Wyverns-Very chill, versatile, good money
5.Brutal Black Dragons-More attention, higher profit
Each of these spots has its own niche:
Want the best AFK per hour? Go Kurasks.
Want classic money + semi-AFK? Gargoyles.
Want fast XP and profit? Nechs.
Want true AFK range training? Wyverns.
Want high GP with big drops? Brutal Blacks cheap RS gold.
Whether you're working, watching shows, or simply wanting to play OSRS without full focus, these monsters offer some of the best balance between effort and earnings in the game.
