I agree that using a translator is a good way to get started, especially when you’re still learning the alphabet. One thing that helps is trying to decode a short message yourself first and then comparing the result with an online tool. I’ve used this morse code  translator and converter for that kind of practice, particularly when checking numbers and less familiar letter combinations.
