While convenience is nice, it shouldn't be the only factor! Of course it is nice to find someone nearby, but sometimes you need to cast a wider net. My approach to sourcing is always to check what I need first. For example, I recently sourced Excavating Contractors in Abbotsford, BC and although there were dozens to pick from locally, I decided to source someone further away due to specialist skills. Just make sure they're licensed to practice in your jurisdiction. Pick someone experienced first, location second.
