Question about hidden or invisible characters in LibreOffice documents

Hi everyone, I’ve been working with LibreOffice Writer recently and noticed that sometimes copied text from websites or other documents can bring in hidden characters, strange spacing, or formatting issues that are hard to detect at first. This can be confusing when preparing clean documents, especially for shared assignments or collaborative work.

A useful habit I’ve found is checking the text carefully before pasting it into a final document, especially when the layout looks slightly off. Tools related to invisible characters, such as textoinvisibles online , can also be helpful for understanding how hidden text or blank characters behave.

Has anyone else run into this issue in LibreOffice, and do you have any tips for cleaning copied text more effectively?

LibreOffice’s hidden or invisible characters can be useful when checking how text is structured, especially when spacing, line breaks, or formatting marks are affecting the final document. A similar idea can be useful on social platforms, where users sometimes need blank spacing or clean formatting without visible characters. The concept of invisible text for Instagram is often used to create empty-looking spaces, improve caption layouts, or separate sections without adding visible symbols. It is worth checking the actual characters being inserted, since some are truly invisible Unicode characters rather than ordinary spaces, and different apps may handle them differently. Understanding how these characters behave in LibreOffice can also make it easier to identify unexpected formatting issues before copying text into other platforms.
