Rebuild the Custom Drive or Source New?

Rebuild the Custom Drive or Source New?

Hi everyone,

our site's heavy-duty underground haul truck started making a severe metallic grinding noise during steep gradient climbs yesterday morning. The chief technician recommended scheduling a full RJ Link gearbox repair to restore precision internal gear tolerances and swap out contaminated bearings.

However, the operations manager is pressing to source a brand-new generic replacement drive to avoid potential field delays. Has anyone here refurbished specialized speed changers on heavy mining equipment instead of swapping them out entirely? I would love to hear if an overhaul provides long-term reliability and an effective RJ Link gearbox repair.

Thanks in advance.

We experienced a similar drive unit failure on our aggregate processing conveyor two years ago, and opting for a professional RJ Link gearbox repair was the best decision we made.

Rebuilding the existing unit eliminated severe gear chatter, restored full torque transfer capabilities, and saved us nearly six weeks of waiting for a factory replacement.

The reconditioned assembly has run continuously under maximum load without a single hiccup ever since. If you want to save money without sacrificing equipment longevity, restoring your current setup is definitely the way to go. You will be very pleased with an RJ Link gearbox repair.
